Visiting Home After Travelling for Two Years: What I’m Looking Forward To

I haven’t been home to England for two years. Two years and 5 days to be exact! As amazing as living and travelling in faraway countries is, there comes a time when the need to see family and friends becomes too much. My husband and I decided now is our time, and we are visiting England for two weeks. Obviously the thing I’m most looking forward to is catching up with family and friends. In fact, I can’t wait. Just the thought of it makes this 12 hour plane journey I’m on right now all worth it. I’m also excited for two other things: Food and exercise.

My City - Newcastle Upon Tyne

Running where I live in Korea isn’t as easy and accessible as running at home. There are too many roads, cars and stares from passersby. It will be good to get out on some of my old, more enjoyable running routes which are right on my doorstep.

Now for the food; I’d love to say I’m craving fresh, healthy food, but unfortunately a lot of the things I’ve missed are not very wholesome. Top of my list are a Greggs sausage roll, a roast dinner, curry and naan washed down with some nice beer, salmon and salad (see it’s not all bad) and no doubt countless other tasty food I can’t think of right now. I’m getting hungry just thinking about it. Oh well, as long as I keep up my running then I can indulge myself.

Now I’m off to eat my nutritious plane snack.

Update: I’ve been in England a couple of days now. This is just the first chance I’ve had to put up a blog post!
