Trying to Beat the Coffee Addiction
It’s 1am, and I’ve been trying to get to sleep for two hours. My heart is racing. I decide to get up, because lying in bed is doing me no favours. So, I sit on my computer for 3 hours, before eventually going back to bed and getting to sleep at 4am. Okay, this might sound dramatic, but this was the price I paid for drinking a café latte a few hours before bed the other night.
Maybe you already know I love coffee, especially café mocha. Maybe I’m drinking too much of the stuff. Working from home, it’s so easy to keep making cups throughout the day. It also doesn’t help that everything is so cheap in Indonesia, making it tempting to go and sit in a coffee shop to work or just to get away from the heat.
I’ve decided I need to cut down so I’ve been trying out lower caffeine options (but certainly not healthier). At a market yesterday I cooled down from the heat with a lemon iced tea. On my coffee shop jaunts this weekend, I discovered an amazing chocolate milkshake (with ice cream in it) and a chocolate frappe, which tasted very similar to my favourite café mocha. Some might say it’s actually the sugar I’m addicted to, not the caffeine. I think that should be my next thing to cut down. Would you consider yourself a coffee addict? What’s your favourite coffee?
