I’m So Domesticated…

They’re back. Overnight oats took a couple of days break from my breakfast time but they couldn’t stay away too long.

Yummy. I was happy and full all morning.

This is the weather I woke up to yesterday morning.

Even though I knew it would make things more awkward for out visit to see the house owners mother, I still think it looks very pretty. It’s the first thick snow I’ve seen since last February.

By the time we got home in the afternoon, I was quite hungry. I couldn’t decide what I fancied though. In the end I went with an egg sandwich with a couple of plum tomatoes.

It doesn’t look pretty, but it was very tasty.

It was supposed to be Jimmy’s turn to ‘cook’ so frozen pizza was on the menu! However, he ended up having loads of problems with one of his websites (convenient! only kidding ;) ), so I ended up heating the pizzas. We didn’t get around to eating until quite late because I was doing a super clean around the house before my mam comes tomorrow.

The pizza tasted quite good, but had no vegetables on it whatsoever. We had a 4 cheese flavour and tuna.

This is my plate number 1.

And my plate number 2.

Yes, we had chips too. I’m the picture of health over here.

Before dinner I decided because it’s been well over a month since my last baking attempt I should give it another go. I don’t know why, but I’m just not good at baking. I do like eating baked goods though, if that counts.

The other day while I was catching up on some blog reading I came across this Banana Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookie recipe. There were no complicated ingredients and I had everything to hand, which is unusual for me. This is what I baked last night.

All was going well, but then I realised the oven was too small for the baking tray I’d put all of the dough on. Since it was a parchment paper it wasn’t too difficult to transfer and I set them off in the oven. When I returned to check on them this had happened!

Oops! I’ve always wanted one of those giant cookie birthday cakes. Now I could have one! I decided not to worry and go along with it. Luckily the individual cookies separated really easily. Okay, maybe they’re not you’re traditional round cookies, but never mind. It’s all about the taste.

Jimmy and I tasted one straight from the oven. Mmm, warm cookies with melted chocolate.

The cookies have a cake texture, which may have some to do with the fact that I cooked mine like a cake. Anyway, they are delicious. I love the hint of banana flavour and of course the chocolate is tasty. When I ate the cookie warm it wasn’t very crispy, but later when they’d cooled down they crisped up. They are also not too unhealthy. Obviously there’s still quite a lot of sugar but not nearly as much as some recipes.

Carrying on with my domestic bliss, this happened.

Yes, I ironed. This is a big deal. I never iron and I probably won’t again for another 10 years. I thought I’d be a good daughter and iron my mam’s bedding.

I ended my night with another cookie. Yum.

Now I must go to pick my mam up from the airport! Yay!
